MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Middle Tennessee State Univeristy lost by double digits against Texas-San Antonio, giving them their second C-USA loss this season.

The 45-25 defeat came with struggles on both sides of the football.

Quarterback Brent Stockstill left the game in the first half with a right shoulder injury. The left-handed QB came back to the game with a sling on his right arm before being taken to the hospital.

Head Coach Rick Stockstill says the injury does not look good for the sophomore. There is not an update on the injury, but Stockstill is expected to miss at least a week.

Replacing Stockstill at quarterback was John Urzua. He was 14-of-27 for 161 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. The offensive woes also hit running back I’Tavius Mathers, who was held to just 4 carries for 19 yards in the first half.

The MTSU defense struggled against Texas-San Anotoni, who had 378 yards of total offense.

The loss puts the Blue Raiders record at 6-3, 3-2 in C-USA.
