CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Clarksville man has been arrested for reportedly chasing two people with a machete.

Julian Martinez, 44, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

According to Clarksville Now, the incident occurred on Power Street. The first victim says he was walking through a parking lot when Martinez rushed toward him with a machete raised over his head.

The victim says he ran across the street to get away.

A second man heard the commotion while he was walking back to his house. He says that’s when Martinez then came after him with the machete.

When officers arrived on the scene, Martinez reportedly told them he was drinking on his porch when he saw the first victim walking nearby.

Martinez said the man owed him money and an argument ensued; however, he denied attacking anyone with a machete.

Clarksville Now reports that police found beer cans and an empty machete sheath on the ground, but they did not see a weapon.

Martinez was taken into custody on a $20,000 bond.
