Police called to crash in south Nashville, find driver with fatal gunshot wound

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are investigating a fatal shooting that was possibly drug-related in south Nashville Friday night.

Officers were initially called to a car crash at Southwood Park Apartments on 203 Southwood Park Place around 6 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered one person had been shot.

Metro police reported the victim was in his vehicle with two other men when gunfire erupted and the car rolled into a retaining wall.

Three men, including the victim, reportedly got out of the car and ran. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Omar Lindsey, collapsed within a few feet of the car.

The two other men got into a Dodge Charger and fled the scene, according to police. A witness got the Charger’s license plate number and gave it to officers. The Charger was later recovered abandoned in the James Cayce public housing development.
