WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was found shot to death near Mt. Juliet after they received multiple 911 calls on Halloween.

At least two people reported a possible shooting in the area of Crestview Drive, and residents also witnessed someone running in a panic.

That person has been identified as Gary Lackey Jr, of Old Hickory.

Mt. Juliet police say residents in the neighborhood reported an individual running and in a panic because there was someone in his home, and claims that they were chasing him with a firearm.

When deputies arrived at the home, Lackey Jr was found shot on the front lawn of the residence to which officers responded.  He was dead upon arrival.

Interviews reportedly indicate the shooting was the result of some type of altercation that took place inside the home.

“This is a tragic event and unfortunately has an impact on all individuals involved,” Detective Major B.J. Stafford said. “Anytime someone loses their life, a family suffers the loss of their loved one. The preliminary investigation shows that all individuals involved in some way knew each other, and this was not a case of a random burglary. After our detectives have gathered all of the facts from everyone involved, these results will be presented to the district attorney’s office for a determination on prosecution, or presentation to a Wilson Co. grand jury.”

Detectives say they are continuing their investigation and no one has been charged at this time.
