Man burned in car fire on I-24 in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man suffered burns to his lower body in a car fire on Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 1:45 p.m. near the Medical Center Parkway exit.

According to a release from the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department, the driver of the car made contact with a metal light pole prior to the fire.

Upon their arrival, the car was fully engulfed and the victim was already outside of the burning vehicle.

The victim was initially taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford for treatment before being transferred to the burn center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

His condition was not immediately known.
