NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Parents are on edge in east Nashville with reports of a man lurking near a school bus stop.
Jordan Alfaro, 14, was simply walking to the bus stop to pick up his little brothers when he says a strange man in a strange car crept down Old Trinity Lane.
It was a two-block walk that felt like a mile Tuesday afternoon.
“I saw this green and grey car coming down the street real slow,” said Jordan. “I just ignored it, I was looking at my phone.”
Jordan hurried on toward Dickerson Pike, but the car tailed close behind.
“The guy was just like, staring at me, and then he gave me a creepy little wave,” explained Jordan. “It sounded like he said, ‘Do you want to have some fun with me?’ And I was like, ‘Excuse me?’”
The bizarre exchange was witnessed by a mom across the street, who had her own exchange with the odd driver.
“He was just standing there for probably like, two to three minutes, just staring at me, not saying anything,” said Joana Espinosa, who lives down the street. “So then I asked him, ‘What do you need?’ He was like, ‘Oh nothing, I’m just waiting for the kids to get off the bus.’”
Espinosa called police, as did Jordan’s mom Katherine.
When Metro police arrived, the car was long gone, leaving a distinct description in its wake.
“It had kind of a box shape,” said Jordan. “It was like green.”
“It’s a box car, four doors. Like a greenish,” said Espinosa.
Now Espinosa, Jordan, and Katherine have teamed up. They’re putting the word out, keeping kids on the block top of mind, should the green box-like-car return.
“Something I never really thought about, till it happened,” said Katherine Alfaro-Alberto, Jordan’s mom. “But it can happen anywhere, at anytime.”
Metro officials say a report in the case hasn’t been filed because there’s no evidence the man broke any laws during Tuesday’s exchange.
However, they urge parents to stay vigilant.
