While details surrounding the shooting are limited, WDTN reports officers responded to an incident with two cars on the freeway, which ultimately led to a crash.

At some point, shots were fired involving police. One officer was wounded, and Sides was killed in the shootout.

Her boyfriend, Conrad Davis, was arrested.

Davis is a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps but was kicked out because “the character of his service was incongruent with Marine Corps’ expectations and standards,” according to a statement from the U.S. Marine Corps.
