WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday morning for a new elementary school in Wilson County.
Work began on Springdale Elementary School at its future home off Central Pike just north of Interstate 40.
If all goes according to schedule, more than 500 students will be attending the school for the 2017-2018 school year.
“It’s the first elementary construction that we’ve seen in several years, and its the result of the growth in Wilson County, first of several buildings to address the population explosion that we’re seeing in Wilson County,” said Director of Schools Donna Wright.
The school sits just miles from a large residential development and is an area school officials admit is growing quickly.
