NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Alan Jackson took to the stage at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday to rehearse for the CMA Awards Wednesday night.

He told News 2 he’ll be performing with George Strait, who will be singing “Troubadour.”

During the song, historic moments from country music will be highlighted on the big screen.

Jackson said the CMA award night was one he always “put on the top” when he was a nobody.

“I knew the others a little bit, and there are several different shows, even the Grammys, you know. Everyone wants to put that at the top, and that’s cool but to me, I was a country singer. I wanted the Country Music Association awards,” he explained.

“It’s very cool, especially at my age. Been through so much, been on so many shows, won every award there is, but being able to come back and be a part of it and celebrate this big year, that’s an honor,” Jackson added.

News 2 will have live reports from the red carpet beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday with a special show at 6:30 p.m. hosted by Neil Orne and Dawn Davenport.
