Armed carjacking suspect arrested in south Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An armed carjacking suspect was arrested south of downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.

The carjacking happened in the 4300 block of Albion Street around 2 a.m.

Metro police told News 2 the victim was visiting a relative when the suspect got into his car, pointed a gun at him, and demanded he hand over his property and his car.

The victim was uninjured.

A short time later, the car was spotted by a Metro officer near University Court in the J.C. Napier Homes.

Metro police reported the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody after a brief chase.

The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, is expected to be charged with carjacking.

No additional information was immediately released.
