1 killed, 1 injured after car crashes into tree in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash in Clarksville early Saturday morning.

The crash occurred on Tiny Town Road just after Midnight.

Clarksville officials reported a 2014 red Chevy Camaro driven by 24-year-old Darryl Shuler left the roadway in a curve and struck a mailbox before crashing into a tree. Shuler was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, 19-year-old Marquel McCottry, was transported to Tennova Hospital before being transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. McCottry is now listed in stable condition.

Speed, alcohol and controlled substances are being considered as contributing factors in the crash, according to the city of Clarksville officials.

The crash remains under investigation.
