MURFRESEBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – One gas leak led to another Wednesday afternoon in Murfreesboro.

Firefighters first responded to the Ascend Credit Union building around 12:30 p.m., where officials say a construction crew cut a gas line.

The pressure release valve from that situation experienced issues—and also caused a second leak in the area, according to Captain Tony Lehew.

Traffic was blocked on East Main Street from Arnette to Rutherford, closing both lanes of South Rutherford as well.

Gas crews responded to the scene to begin fixing the problem. One was expected to be fixed quickly but other could take some time on East Main.

Further details weren’t immediately known.
