24-year-old shot, killed near Church Street in Midtown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 24-year-old man died after he was shot Tuesday night while driving near Church Street in Midtown.

The victim, identified as Oshay Rutledge, was shot in the head around 9:40 p.m. on 18th Avenue North.

After being shot, police said he ran to a hookah bar on Church Street.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Metro police said Rutledge was targeted and are investigating if the shooting was drug-related.

The shooting scene stretched down 18th Avenue across Church Street and Metro police told News 2 multiple shell casings were found along the road.

Church Street was closed in both directions until 6 a.m. while investigators processed the scene.
