Car hit while stopped on side of I-65 N in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) – Multiple lanes of Interstate 65 northbound are blocked Monday morning because of a crash in Columbia.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. near Bear Creek Pike.

Four cars were involved and one of them caught on fire. Two of the cars involved ended up in the median.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, one of the cars was on the shoulder and the driver was changing a tire. That car was hit by a second vehicle.

Several people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to THP.

One lane is closed in each direction in the area.

Crews expect to have the accident cleared by 8 a.m.
