NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred outside of a Donelson restaurant Sunday night.
It happened at Uncle Bud’s of Donelson, which is located at 2719 Old Lebanon Road.
According to officials, the situation began around 4 p.m. with a disgruntled employee, identified as 26-year-old Jordan Agnew, who showed up at the restaurant, waving a gun and demanding to speak with management.
The man reportedly talked about shooting those in charge.
Coworkers convinced him to leave and called police to report what happened.
About four hours later at around 8:10 p.m., the man showed up again and started shooting behind the building.
Diners inside reported hearing the gunfire, as did an officer who was in the area.
According to Metro police, Officer Jeff Goodwin pulled up to the drive thru lines of a neighboring bank and confronted the suspect.
That’s when he reportedly refused to put down his semi-automatic pistol, leading the officer to fire his weapon, hitting the man.
The suspect was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
Sergeant Goodwin is a 28-year veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department. He has been put on routine administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
