Driver takes off after hitting child in Antioch

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are looking for the driver who sped off after hitting a child in Antioch.

Officers were called to the intersection of Bell Road and Eagle View Boulevard around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

A witness told News 2 the child was hit while trying to run across the street.

“He’s just like, ‘I’m going to make it.’ So, he takes off running and the light I couldn’t tell if it changed, but the guy flew out, came around the corner and the kid veered to the left trying to miss him but the left front caught him and he flipped over the car and did about one a quarter and landed on his hip,” explained Michael Richards.

He went on to say that the driver stepped on the gas and fled the scene.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear how serious his injuries were, but he is expected to be OK.

No additional information about the accident was released.
