Mt. Juliet family escapes fire that destroyed home

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Mt. Juliet family escaped a house fire that destroyed their home Friday morning.

Fire crews and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency personnel responded to a home on Cedar Creek Village Road around 9 a.m.

A neighbor told News 2 he called 911 when he saw smoke coming from the roof of the home. Another neighbor was on his way to work when he stopped and went inside the house to help the people inside get out of the house.

Crews on the scene told News 2 five people were inside the home at the time of the fire. All were able to get out of the home safely.

The homeowners breed doves, which are all accounted for and unharmed.

The home is a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
