NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Titans have never beaten the Colts while quarterback Andrew Luck has been under center, but that could all change Sunday if the pass rush can duplicate their results the last two weeks.
The defense has been getting to the quarterback at an astounding rate with 12 sacks, six in each game, the past two weeks in wins over Miami and Cleveland.
It’s been a combination of both players up front winning one on one battles and the execution by all 11 players of Dick LeBeau’s defensive calls.
Dick LeBeau, Defensive Coordinator, said, “I’ve said they’ve been getting consistent pressure, in the last two weeks we’ve got a lot of sacks but it’s all the players, it’s the players.”
“There’s a lot of things that have been a factor in it but I think the most important thing has been how relentless our guys are they’ve been doing this since day one,” Coach Mike Mularkey added.
Linebacker Derrick Morgan also added, “You know we’ve been hot the last few weeks we’ve been doing a really good job at rushing together and having a lot of help from the back end as well.”
With the Titans racking up numbers in the sack game, the Colts have been bad in pass protection with Andrew Luck already the victim of 23 sacks through the first six weeks of the season.
If the Titans can get to Luck early, they may just get their first win over Indianapolis since Mike Munchak was head coach, way back in 2011.
