GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Goodlettsville police are searching for the man they say walked away with $12,000 in gems from a Goodlettsville jewelry store.
It happened last Wednesday at Ashcroft & Oak Jewelers at the RiverGate Mall around lunchtime.
“He said he was looking for a gift for his girlfriend,” the store employee said. “They’d been together five years.”
She added he was well-dressed, polite and knew his jewelry. Then he simply walked away with the jewelry.
“He was looking at both of them [earrings and a pendant] and then he looks up at me, smiles and turns around and walks off,” the employee, who did not want to be identified, told News 2.
The clerk said she has had nightmares since her encounter with the man.
“The smile he gave me was really creepy,” she recalled. “I had a nightmare that night that he was coming to find me at my house breaking in.”
The jewelry store employee said the man was wearing glasses at the time and had a Bluetooth device in his ear. He also had a tattoo on his right forearm and was wearing an expensive Movado watch.
She said it all happened so quickly it was surprising.
“I got nervous,” she said. “You don’t think anyone will do that to you. You freeze. I yelled, ‘Hey!’ a couple of times, but he didn’t even look back.”
The suspect left the mall in a maroon four-door sedan that was waiting outside Dillards.
Anyone with information is urged to call Goodlettsville police at 615-851-5111.
