Man killed in ultralight crash in Coffee County

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 52-year-old man was killed when his ultralight aircraft crashed in Hillsboro, Tennessee, Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of Prairie Plains Road.

The pilot, identified as Michael Nelms, was the only person on board the Sky Cycle ultralight when it went down.

It was not immediately clear what led to the accident, but the Coffee County Sheriff Department is working with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The investigation is ongoing.
