KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – If you look at the top teams in the SEC, it’s Alabama and everyone else. The Tide rolled over an injury laden Tennessee team 49-10 Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
The Vols showed some signs of life in the second quarter. With Alabama leading 14-0, Derek Barnett forced a fumble on a sack to give Tennessee the ball inside the Alabama 15-yard line.
Two plays later Alvin Kamara scored the Vols only touchdown on a 7-yard run to make it a 7-point game. But after that, it was all Alabama.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts scored on a 45-yard touchdown run to give the Crimson Tide a 21-7 lead at halftime, and then scored two more in the third quarter to put the game away as Alabama led 35-10 entering the fourth quarter.
Jalen Hurts ran for 132 yards as Alabama trampled the Vols on the ground for 438 rushing yards capped off by an 85-yard Bo Scarbrough touchdown to cap a 49-10 win.
The Vols managed just 163 total yards as both Alvin Kamara and Jalen Hurd were held to 49 yards on 21 carries combined.
Josh Dobbs was 16/27 for 92 yards, including a pick 6 in the first quarter that put Alabama up 14-0.
Tennessee dropped to 5-2 on the season. They’re now a game back of Florida for the SEC East lead.
