SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) –  Authorities in Bethpage are searching for two men who robbed a convenience store.

The masked suspects entered the Bethpage Store around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Once inside they charged Nilesh Kumar Patel, who was working behind the counter and demanded money.

“I was scared. I didn’t know what was going to happen,” said Patel. “They told me to open the register.” After noticing a gun, Patel complied and opened the register.

“Our victim explained that in the front left pocket of one of our suspects there was a handgun,” said Detective Eddie Cripps with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.

After demanding Patel to open the registers, the men grabbed the cash and left through the drive through window. Both men were last seen leaving the store parking lot on foot.

They got away with about $500 in cash and a carton of cigarettes.

While Patel was shaken, he was back at work just hours later.

“They didn’t hurt me or anything they just let me go.”

The identities of both men is still unknown. Anyone with information should contact  the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office at 615-452-2616.
