WASHINGTON (AP) – Two political groups that work to elect House Republicans say they’re pumping a fresh $10 million into 14 congressional races. All the money is to defend GOP-held seats.
The money is being spent to protect Republican-represented districts in Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah and Virginia.
The expenditures come as Republicans have expressed concerns that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s faltering campaign could hurt congressional candidates.
The groups are the American Action Network and the Congressional Leadership Fund.
Democrats would need to gain 30 seats to win House control. That has seemed unlikely, but their hopes have grown amid damaging reports involving Trump.
Several women have reported in recent days that Trump groped or kissed them without their consent. Trump has denied the allegations.
