NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested for allegedly trying to break into an ATM in Bellevue early Thursday morning.
It happened at the Fifth Third Bank off Highway 100 around 1 a.m.
The bank’s security company was alerted to suspicious activity and witnessed the suspect in a Lincoln Navigator attempting to get into the ATM on the surveillance video feed.
The company called Metro police, who found a man matching the description in a nearby parking lot and stopped him for questioning.
Officers searched his vehicle and determined the suspect was responsible for vandalizing the ATM.
Metro police told News 2 the suspect was attempting to pry the ATM lock open. Had he gained entry, he would not have had access to any cash, said police.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was charged with attempted burglary and vandalism.
