NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro’s Glendale Spanish Immersion Elementary school has added the highly prestigious Blue Ribbon title to their name.

They’ve been recognized nationally as a high performing school.

Glendale students don’t just excel in English; they also learn everything in Spanish and create a true bilingual environment from kindergarten on up.

It’s called a Spanish immersion school, and they are quickly becoming one of the best in the country.

“If people could realize what great things are going on in our district throughout all day, every day, I think they would be amazed,” explained the school’s principle Jeanna Collins.

According to school officials, parental involvement is the key to success and the way to get a school to the Blue Ribbon level.

“Our parents are here in and out all day, every day and they’re very involved in our school,” said Collins.

To parents, Glendale elementary has been Blue Ribbon quality for years. They’re just happy to make it official for Metro Public Schools.

Six schools in the state were named Blue Ribbon schools for 2016. Three of them were here in Middle Tennessee, including Glendale, Walnut Grove Elementary and Brentwood Middle School.
