FBI investigating Portland bank robbery

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating a bank robbery that occurred on Friday.

An armed man walked into the Capitol Bank located at 420 Highway 52 West at 3:11 p.m., according to police.

No one was injured in the robbery and the suspect did escape with an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a 5 foot 5 inches tall man or medium build. He was wearing dark clothing, a green traffic safety vest, a dark hat and sunglasses.

He was last seen running from the entrance of the building.

Gallatin police assisted in the search as well Sumner County Emergency Management Agency tracking dogs and an air patrol unit from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The investigation has now been handed over to the FBI.
