NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Titans insisted the sacks would dominate and they came in waves Sunday in Miami as they sacked Dolphins’ QB Ryan Tannehill six times.
The Titans took turns tagging Tannehill. Derrick Morgan had the first two, Jurrell Casey the next two and Brian Orakpo the last two as they put the game away.
They were the first two sacks of the season for Casey who said they still aren’t satisfied, “we definitely were looking for more, but we were happy with the pressure that we put on the quarterback. We also came out this game with two turnovers so that was pretty big for us.”
Jason McCourty and Damion Stafford had those interceptions and Morgan said they also deserve much of the credit for how often the Titans hit Tannehill, “I think the secondary gave us the opportunity by their coverage. He was holding the ball a little bit giving us time to get back there, so pass rush and coverage goes hand and hand.”
Orakpo leads the Titans with six sacks on the season and said playing with a lead also made a big difference, “It’s huge! We got a lead and we was able to get after it, so it’s definitely fun to be a part of when we’re rolling like that. When we play together, relentless and we’re communicating we’re one of the top teams in this.”
For the game the Titans outgained the Dolphins 398 yards to only 200. They also held Tannehill to a dismal 12 of 18 for 191 yards and two interceptions.
