NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Titans got three touchdown passes from Marcus Mariota and routed the Dolphins 30-17 Sunday in Miami.

The Titans dominated from the beginning racking up 166 yards rushing and a season high 21 points at halftime. Mariota scored the first TD of the game when he ran it in from five yards for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

“Well, any time you get a win in this league it feels good. You know, it’s a tough league. We’ve been on the wrong side for a lot of these the last couple years. Every time we get the chance to enjoy one of these we will. But, it’s really going to really help us in terms of momentum for these next three home games.,” said Mariota.

Mistakes cost the Titans dearly a number of times. Head coach Mike Mularkey fired special teams coach Bobby April on Monday, but watched the Dolphins return a punt 74 yards for a game tying touchdown in the second that made it 7-7.

Tennessee responded with a dominant 12 play drive that saw them run it 10 straight times. Mariota finished the drive with a 5 yard TD pass to Andre Johnson to make it 14-7. After the Dolphins tied it at 14-14 the Titans went right back to work. Mariota hit Delanie Walker for a 20 yard touchdown pass giving Tennessee a 21-14 lead at the half.

The Titans lone TD of the second half came on a five yard fade to former Dolphin Rishard Matthews.

Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill had little chance much of the day as he was battered by the Titans defensive line. Jurrell Casey, Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo each had two sacks. Jason McCourty and Damion Stafford also picked off Tannehill giving the Titans 4 interceptions the last two weeks.

“To win on the road, very happy for these guys, proud of these guys and um, I thought we played better. I thought we played better, we played complimentary football as a team. You know we gave up too many big plays. Those hurt us. They kept them really in the game, but for the most part guys stuck together,” said Coach Mularkey.

With the win the Titans improve to (2-3) with the next three games at home against the Browns, Colts and Jaguars. If the Titans win next week it would be their first two game win streak since 2013.
