Guard cut while trying to stop would-be thief at south Nashville Walmart

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A security guard was cut on the hand while attempting to stop an alleged shoplifter at a south Nashville Walmart early Saturday morning.

It happened at the Nolensville Road location near Harding Place around 2 a.m.

Metro police told News 2 the guard, who is an off-duty Nolensville police officer, approached the would-be thief and a physical skirmish ensued.

The guard was reportedly cut during the tussle and the suspect ran away from the store.

Medics treated the guard at the scene and he returned to work.

No suspect description was released and store officials believe the suspect did not successfully take any merchandise.
