Middle Tennessee utilities send crews to aid Matthew victims

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation (MTEMC) is sending nine trucks to Florida to aid with expected power outages following Hurricane Matthew.

Three four-person crews will be manning the equipment.

They are scheduled to depart from Murfreesboro on Friday morning, and head for Keystone Heights, Florida, which is south of Jacksonville.

MTEMC will be assisting Clay Electric Cooperative. Millions of residents are expected to lose power in the wake of the powerful hurricane.

According to MTEMC, 80 volunteers from other electric cooperatives in Tennessee are also headed to other hurricane-affected regions, including South Carolina.
