Woman charged with murder in deadly robbery, arson at pawn shop

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman has been indicted on charges that she allegedly robbed a pawn shop, killed its owner and set fire to the business in an effort to cover up the crime.

The crime occurred on May 17 at Valley Pawn Brokers on Highway 28 in Whitwell, Tennessee, located in Marion County.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called on to help in the case after the body of 72-year-old Jerry Ridge, who owned the shop, was found inside the burned building.

Angela Kilgore, 51, was identified as a suspect during the investigation.

She is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, especially aggravated robbery, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, aggravated arson, theft, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

A Marion County grand jury returned the indictments on Monday.

Kilgore is being held at the Marion County jail.
