Officials: Death row inmate believed to have died of natural causes in Nashville prison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A death row inmate appears to have died from natural causes at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution Wednesday.

David McNish, 63, was found unresponsive at 5:55 a.m. by medical staff at the prison’s infirmary.

Officials say it appears he died of natural causes pending a final assessment by the coroner.

McNish was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in Carter County in 1984.
