Police: Nashville man wanted for stabbing girlfriend’s son

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Domestic violence detectives are asking for help in finding convicted felon James Kirkwood Sr.

Metro police say he is wanted on an outstanding warrant for attempted criminal homicide after he stabbed his girlfriend’s 30-year-old son.

Kirkwood allegedly physically assaulted his 51-year-old girlfriend Saturday night at their home on Douglas Avenue in East Nashville when her son intervened.

The man was stabbed in both the stomach and chest. He continues to recover at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to a press release, Kirkwood has previous convictions for cocaine possession, domestic assault, assault, aggravated burglary and theft.
