NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Vanderbilt University’s band will now be allowed to play during the school’s homecoming game against Tennessee State University.
The band was originally told that TSU would be the only band performing at the October 22 game.
In just two days, a change.org petition received more than a thousand signatures.
Vanderbilt issued the following statement Monday:
Vanderbilt University’s Spirit of Gold Marching Band and Tennessee State’s Aristocrat of Bands are both scheduled to perform at halftime of the Commodores’ game on Oct. 22 at Vanderbilt Stadium. The Spirit of Gold is also slated to perform inside Vanderbilt Stadium pregame. The bands’ performances will be part of a busy day with the 1956 football team being recognized along with the 2016 Outstanding Senior nominees and crowning of the 2016 Outstanding Senior as well as the Reunion Cup presentation.”
