NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Titans head coach Mike Mularkey fired Special Teams Coordinator Bobby April Monday morning.

The move comes only four games into April’s first year with the team, but after a 27-20 loss in Houston that saw the Titans special teams surrender 10 points, including a 67-yard punt return that was ultimately the difference in the outcome.

After the game, Mularkey lamented the play of his special teams and said it would be addressed.

Veteran assistant Steve Hoffman takes over for April. He has handled Titans punters and kickers since 2013 and has 26 years of NFL experience. He’s also been a special teams coordinator with the Chiefs and the Raiders.
