FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A charity benefit was held Sunday in Music City to help those in need.

The non-profit organization Closer To Home hosted the event at Green’s Grocery in Leiper’s Fork. Country artist Jo Dee Messina and SNL’s Victoria Jackson, both residents of Williamson County, performed.

Closer to Home started 17 years ago by Grammy-nominated artist Michele Pillar.

Their goal is to provide assistance to those who need help with food, shelter and clothing.

Closer to Home receives tips from social workers, schools and hospitals. They then give to people anonymously.

“So the people that get the help, it protects their dignity. They don’t see the help coming. They don’t get their handout. They don’t know where the help came from. We’ve been doing that every day for 17 years,” explained Pillar.
