The department said 16-year-old Robbie Syverson and Jonathan Smith, 15, overpowered a corrections deputy around 8:40 p.m. and handcuffed him to a fixed object inside the facility.

The teens then took the deputy’s keys to his truck and drove away in an unknown direction. The vehicle was described as a gray 2003 Chevy pickup truck.

Both teens were wearing county-issued orange detention attire when they escaped.

The sheriff’s department warned that the teens should be considered armed and dangerous.
