Suspect charged in south Nashville fatal shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of a man in south Nashville.

Metro police reported Tyrus Evans, 22, shot and killed 43-year-old Rickie Anderson in the J.C. Napier public housing development on Friday.

According to a release, the preliminary investigation shows that Anderson was in a crowd when an Evans allegedly shot him in the midsection.

Anderson was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

According to an affidavit, Evans shot at Anderson four to five times, striking him in the leg and stomach.

Evans was reportedly seen on video surveillance running from the scene.

He was also identified as the shooter in a photo line-up by a witness, according to police.

Metro police reported the motive appears to involve a lingering dispute between the two men.

Evans was booked into the Metro jail and charged with criminal homicide. His bond was set at $500,000.
