Students at Meigs Middle Magnet collect 2,800 items for Second Harvest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Students at Meigs Middle Magnet School in east Nashville helped raise 2,800 non-perishable food items for News 2’s “Food 2 Famlies” program.

All of the collected food will go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to help local families in need.

“We just think it’s a really great way to give back to the community and show that we are thankful for everything we have,” said eighth grader Juliana Ablow.

Fellow eighth grader Lindsay Damon added, “We know some people don’t get enough food that they need and we just really want to be able to support them.”

Schools participating in compete for cash prizes from Kroger and Cornerstone Financial.
