NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One clerk was injured as Metro police investigate two crimes at markets in south Nashville Thursday night.

First, a suspect attempted to rob the Mapco located at 3043 Nolensville Pike around 11:15 p.m.

A woman reportedly demanded the clerk open the register. The clerk refused and the suspect allegedly struck the clerk in the head, causing a laceration.

The suspect fled from the store empty-handed and the clerk was transported to Southern Hills Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as a black woman in all-black clothing and wearing an orange mask over her face.

Second, a suspect matching the same description in the attempted Mapco robbery robbed the MSM Food Mart, located at 230 Thompson Lane, around 11:45 p.m.

The suspect entered the store with a knife and reportedly demanded money from the register.

Metro police said the clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot into a black 4-door sedan.

The victim told police the suspect was male but the description matches that of the suspect from the Mapco attempted robbery.
