NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A judge has ruled that Cory Batey will not receive a new sentencing hearing in the high-profile Vanderbilt rape case.

A second request for the recusal of the court was also denied.

Batey was sentenced to 15 years in prison on July 15 after he was found guilty of one count of aggravated rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of facilitation of aggravated rape and two counts of attempted aggravated rape.

In early September, the state requested the new sentencing after it was discovered there were 11 letters sent to the judge in support of Batey leading up to his sentencing earlier this summer.
