OTTAWA, Canada (WCMH) — A Canada man has been arrested and accused of smuggling gold out of the Royal Canadian Mint in his rectum.

Prosecutors said alarms would sound each time Leston Lawrence, 38, would pass through security as he left work every day, but when guards would pat him down, they wouldn’t find anything.

It was because they weren’t looking in the right place.

According to prosecutors, Lawrence was concealing the gold pucks inside his rectum as he left each day and would eventually take pucks valued at $180,000.

A bank teller reported unusual transactions made by Lawrence to police and that’s what sparked the investigation.

Prosecutors say he was taking the gold to a mall in Ottawa and trading it for cash.
