HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – School officials dismissed an alleged online threat made against Beech Senior High School early Thursday morning.

Sheriff Sonny Weatherford confirmed his deputies investigated the threat after a tip was called in to his office around Midnight.

Jeremy Johnson, Community Relations Supervisor for Sumner County Schools, told News 2 the threat stemmed from a misconstrued social media post relating to a Homecoming Week Superhero themed day.

A Facebook post about one student’s costume Wednesday sparked the rumors of an alleged threat.

After a thorough investigation, officials were unable to substantiate the threat.

Johnson added that parents should not be concerned though the school takes all threats seriously.

Weatherford told News 2 the school day will proceed as normal.

Initially, extra deputies were to be on hand at the school Thursday as a precaution.
