Delta flight returns to gate at Nashville airport after smoke odor detected in cockpit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Delta flight returned to its gate at Nashville International Airport after a smokey odor was detected in the cockpit just before take off Thursday morning.

The incident occurred on Delta Connection SkyWest flight 4850 set to take off from Nashville to Minneapolis at 7:53 a.m.

Airport emergency crews were called to respond but the call was cancelled when they were told no assistance was needed, according to spokesperson Shannon Sumrall.

Passengers were taken off the plane and maintenance technicians are evaluating the aircraft.

According to a SkyWest official, ccustomers have been provided refreshments and the company is working to get them to Minneapolis within the hour.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
