MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman in a motorized wheelchair was struck while crossing the road in Murfreesboro Wednesday morning.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Southeast Broad and South Church streets, not too far from the public square.
The driver of the SUV told police all traffic was stopped and he was attempting to make a right turn onto South Church Street. He said he didn’t see the woman in the wheelchair.
The woman’s wheelchair was wedged under the front of the SUV and emergency responders had to use a jack to raise the vehicle to free the wheelchair.
The victim was checked out by paramedics on the scene. Emergency officials said she was walking with a limp, but was alert and talking. She is expected to be ok.
It is unknown if the driver will be cited.
