CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN)- Toby Willis of TLC’s reality show “The Willis Family” appeared in a Cheatham County courtroom Wednesday.

Willis, 46, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is still in jail without bond.

He was taken into custody Sept.9  in connection to an ongoing and active child rape case.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they began investigating him on Aug. 29 and alleged he had a sexual encounter with an underage girl about 12 years ago.

He was extradited from the Muhlenberg County jail in Kentucky without bond on a fugitive from justice warrant before he was transported to Cheatham County jail.

Agents have since learned Willis hitchhiked sometime between Monday, Sept. 5 and Tuesday, Sept. 6 from Shepherdsville, just south of Louisville, to Greenville, which is about 115 miles away.

The TBI wants to find and speak with the people who gave him rides as part of the investigation.

Willis and his family were stars of the hit TLC reality show, “The Willis Family.” It followed the singing group, which consists of 12 children, as they performed around the country.

His next court appearance was scheduled for Oct. 5.
