NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Belmont University says a freshman student accused of posting a racist social media post is no longer a student at the school.

A statement was posted via the university’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.

“We reject comments rooted in racism or bigotry. This is not free speech – this is hate speech,” said the response. “As a Christian institution, it is our goal to build a diverse and inclusive community where all members feel accepted, safe and valued.”

It’s unclear what the social media post said. Further details have not been released.
