NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Southwest flight headed to Nashville from Los Angeles blew one of its four main tires on take-off Monday night.
ABC affiliate KABC-TV told News 2 Flight 2634 was turned around and landed back at LAX safely just after 9:10 p.m. Central.
There were 147 passengers on board with an unknown number of crew members. No one was injured.
Passengers were escorted off the plane and had to wait four hours for a new plane.
People trying to get to Nashville finally arrived back in Music City around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Travelers told News 2’s Cherish Lombard they heard a loud explosion and the plane started shaking while they were taking off. The flight crew informed passengers that a tire blew and they would be forced to land at LAX.
The original plane is being repaired and inspected in Los Angeles.
