NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) For 34 years the African Street Festival has brought people together in Hadley Park near downtown Nashville.
Jeneene Blackman, the event’s organizer, says she hopes the festival gave people a chance to do something positive together.
“In a time when families are having a difficult tome financially and there’s just so much going on we heard about all these negative things,” Blackman said. “When you come out here it’s about family. It’s about love.”
It’s been the festival’s goal to celebrate and connect the extensions of Africa to America by education and the arts.
