KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It was supposed to be a final tuneup before opening SEC play but for Butch Jones and Tennessee, but Saturday’s game against Ohio was anything but.

The Vols finally got off to a fast start as Josh Dobbs threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Josh Malone and Tennessee took an early 7-0 lead.

But after the initial score, the game was back and forth the rest of the first half as momentum changed hands with Ohio kicking 4 field goals to end the half trailing by just two.

As for Tennessee, they went into the break with only a 2-point lead after Jalen Hurd scored his only touchdown of the game.

In the second half it was another dogfight as the Vols tried to separate themselves early. Dobbs took off on a 13-yard touchdown run to put Tennessee up by 9 midway through the third quarter.

Ohio came storming back and again made it a 2-point game as Greg Windham hit Jordan Reid for a 4-yard touchdown pass, and Tennessee was again under pressure being a 4 touchdown favorite.

The Vols struck the final blow of the game as Dobbs found Josh Malone for a second touchdown to go up 28-19. That was the final score when the horn sounded as Tennessee move to 3-0 for the year.

Dobbs went 19/27 for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns, including one interception while rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown.
